#1. British champion Akwasi Yeboah, a 6'6'' small forward who graduated from Rutgers in 2020, currently plays professionally in Turkey. In a recent Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi match, Yeboah and his team Trabzonspor faced off against Bahcesehir. Despite Yeboah's efforts where he contributed 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, Trabzonspor suffered a tough 91-65 loss on the road against the higher-ranked Bahcesehir, who holds the third position in the league standings. Yeboah's individual performance was commendable, especially considering his average of 9.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this season. He has showcased his skills consistently throughout the 31 games he has played so far. It is worth mentioning that in addition to being a standout player on the court, Yeboah also holds Ghanaian citizenship.
#2. Dylan Harper, a 6'6'' guard and 20-year-old Scarlet Knights alum from 2025, who received an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention award that year, is now playing professionally in the NBA. In a recent game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Harper played a key role in his team's dominant 103-82 victory over the Thunder, who have a weak 64-18 record. Despite his modest statistics of 7 points and 5 rebounds in 21 minutes of play, Harper's impact was significant in securing the win for his team, marking their third consecutive victory. This season, the San Antonio Spurs, Harper's current team, have struggled with a 62-21 record. Having joined the team just this year, Harper showcased his skills against the Thunder by not only contributing on the offensive end with 7 points but also making an impact on the boards with 5 rebounds and distributing the ball with 2 assists. This stellar performance further solidified his reputation as a champion on the court. Throughout the season, Harper has been having an exceptional year individually, averaging 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game across 86 games. His consistent contributions and impressive stats highlight his potential as a rising star in the league.
#3. Experienced champion Myles Mack, a 5'10'' point guard at 33 years old who graduated from Rutgers in 2015 and received the All-Big Ten Honorable Mention award that year, currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Reales' 90-82 victory over the league-leading Indios (12-4) in the Dominican Rep. Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. Despite it being his first game for Reales this season, Mack made an immediate impact by contributing 9 points in 30 minutes of play. The match was highly anticipated as it featured two top 4 ranked teams battling it out, with Mack's team currently holding the fourth position in the league standings. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each game becomes increasingly important for the teams competing for playoff spots. Mack's stellar performance against Indios, where he not only scored 9 points but also secured 2 rebounds and provided 1 assist, was instrumental in leading Reales to victory. His display of skills and determination on the court further solidified his reputation as a champion in the sport.
#4. South Sudanese champion Mawot Mag, a 6'7'' forward and Cougars alumni from 2025, previously played at Rutgers between 2020 and 2024 before turning pro in Australia. Despite his best efforts, Mag could not lead the Waverley Falcons (5-6) to victory against United (3-9) in the Australian NBL One, the second division of basketball in Australia. During the game, Mag scored 9 points in 31 minutes of play as the 12th-placed Waverley Falcons suffered a 88-99 defeat to the lower-ranked United (#17) in the South group in Geelong. He showcased his skills against Geelong U, contributing 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, but unfortunately, his team was unable to secure the win. In the current season, Mag is averaging 9.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game over five games. It is noteworthy that Mag holds both American and South Sudanese citizenship, allowing him to play in South Sudan as a domestic player.
#5. C.J. Gettys, a skilled 7'0'' center and a 32-year-old Rutgers graduate from 2017, currently playing professionally in Indonesia, played a crucial role in Kesatria's narrow 82-81 victory over the third-ranked Borneo in the Indonesian Basketball League last Saturday. Gettys shone brightly on the court, recording a double-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks in 37 minutes of play. Kesatria Bengawan Solo, currently ranked seventh in the league with a record of 10-10, secured their third consecutive win, thanks in large part to the stellar performance by Gettys. His exceptional display of talent and skill in the game against Borneo earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his prowess as a champion. Throughout the season, Gettys has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 18.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game over the course of 11 games.
