CS Dinamo Stiinta Bucuresti (Liga Nationala) added to their roster experienced 35-year old Somalian ex-international forward Mohamed Abukar (207-85, college: SDSU). He is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Abukar has played for the last four seasons at Keravnos in Cypriot OPAP Basket League, but left the team in Mar.'20. He managed to play in three leagues last year. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and Abukar had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 6 OPAP Basket League games he recorded 11.2ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.7apg. He also played 3 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 12.7ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.7apg. And finally Abukar contributed to 4 games in Basketball Champions League where he got 14.3ppg, 5.3rpg and 3.3apg.
In 2008 (a year after he left the college) Abukar was drafted by Austin Toros (D-League) in second round (17th overall).
The former San Diego State University star is in his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. He was a member of Somalian Senior National Team back in 2013.
Abukar is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in eight different countries. Abukar has played previously professionally in Belgium (Spirou Charleroi), Bulgaria, Holland, Italy, Japan (Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano), Kosovo (Prishtina), Switzerland (Lugano) and North Macedonia (Rabotnicki). His team won Cyprus Supercup. Abukar was voted Eurobasket.com All-Cyprus League Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2020.
