Mali registered a 29-23 halftime lead. They sank 47 points in the second half and marched to a well-deserved win at the end. Oummou Koumare (176-F-2006) notched 31 points, while Rokiatou Berthe (180-F-2006) added 14 points for the champions. Idubamo Beggi (2006) responded with 14 points for Nigeria. 3-4 PlaceCameroon - Uganda 70-66Cameroon outgunned Uganda to celebrate the third place in South Africa. Cameroon established a 36-33 halftime lead. They extended the lead to as many as 8 points at the final intermission. Uganda managed to narrow the distance in the fourth period but could not avoid the loss. Damaris Emedie fired 19 points and 24 rebounds to lead the winners. Resty Nanangwe replied with 19 points and 8 boards for Uganda. 5-6 PlaceAngola - Egypt 50-53Egypt ended up on a high note as they topped Angola for the fifth-place finish at the championship. Egypt recorded a 19-13 lead ten minutes into the game. They followed with a 17-11 rally in the third term to boost the lead. Angola held Egypt to just 7 points in the fourth period but could not avert the loss. Jude Alaaeldin (176-SF-2006) scored 17 points to lead Egypt. Ketcha Nganga (2007) answered with 13 points for Angola. 7-8 PlaceRwanda - Tunisia 65-52Rwanda secured the 7th place at the tournament as they toppled Tunisia in their final game in South Africa. Vanessa Camara (175-SG-2006) came up with 19 points to lead the winners. Rwanda grabbed a 19-9 lead after ten minutes. They held Tunisia to just 23 points in the second half and raced to the win. Brigitte Nibishaka had 13 points for the winning side. Nour Horchani (173-PG-2006) replied with 17 points for Tunisia. |
