Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Spartans alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Omari Moore (12 points), Brae Ivey (2 points), and Joshua Uduje (6 points).
#1. Omari Moore, a 6'6'' shooting guard who graduated from SJSU in 2023 and was awarded the All-MWC Player of the Year, is currently playing professionally in Spain for Valencia Basket. In the recent game against the higher-ranked Baskonia, despite Moore's solid performance of scoring 12 points and making 3 assists in 28 minutes, Valencia Basket narrowly lost 88-86 on the road. This marked their third consecutive loss. It is worth noting that this is Moore's debut season with the team. In the match against Baskonia, Moore showcased his skills by contributing 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Although he put on an impressive performance, it was not enough to secure a victory for his team. Throughout the season, Moore has been averaging 8.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game in the 26 games he has played thus far. Additionally, it is interesting to mention that Moore is a naturalized American, adding a unique element to his professional basketball career in Spain.
#2. In a recent German easyCredit BBL game, the 29-year-old 6'2'' point guard and Spartans alumnus from 2020, Brae Ivey, currently playing professionally in Germany, played a crucial role in helping FIT/One Wuerzburg Baskets secure a 69-54 victory over the closely-ranked Telekom Baskets with a record of 21-13. Despite only scoring 2 points in 19 minutes on the court, Ivey's contribution proved to be essential in his team's success. FIT/One Wuerzburg Baskets, currently fifth in the league with a record of 20-14, achieved their third consecutive victory, showcasing their strong form. In a recent game against Bonn, Ivey's performance was noteworthy as he scored 2 points, grabbed 1 rebound, and provided 2 assists, aiding his team in clinching the win and solidifying their position as the finalist of the match. Throughout the season, Ivey has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 11.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the 32 games he has played so far. His consistent and impactful presence on the court has been instrumental in his team's success, culminating in their recent triumph as the champion of the game.
#3. British Joshua Uduje, a 24-year-old guard standing at 6'5'', who graduated from SJSU in 2025 and received the All-MWC Third Team award that year, currently plays professionally in France. Despite his efforts, Uduje, representing Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier, could not lead his team to victory against La Rochelle in the French ELITE 2, the second division league. In the match, Uduje showcased his skills by scoring 6 points and providing 3 assists in 25 minutes on the court. Unfortunately, Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier suffered a 76-87 defeat against the higher-ranked La Rochelle, who holds the #8 position in the league standings. This loss marked Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier's sixth consecutive defeat, concluding their Regular Season campaign. Uduje, in his first season with the team, displayed a commendable performance against La Rochelle, contributing 6 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists. Despite his individual achievements and solid season statistics of 14.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 35 appearances, Uduje and his team were unable to secure a win in this particular game.
#4. South Sudanese Chol Marial, a 7'2'' center and 26-year-old Spartans alumnus from 2025, currently playing professionally in the TBL, showcased his talent but couldn't change the outcome for the Mesa Monsoons (0-6) in their recent game against the 4 Bears Roar. Despite his exceptional performance, the Mesa Monsoons fell short, losing 110-78 in a highly anticipated derby match. Marial put up an impressive double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in just 44 minutes of play. His perfect 8-for-8 free throw shooting highlighted his skill and efficiency on the court. This remarkable performance is even more notable considering it is his debut season in professional basketball. Despite Marial's outstanding efforts, the Mesa Monsoons have yet to secure a victory in the Regular Season, losing all six games thus far. Marial's remarkable 17-point, 12-rebound performance against the 4 Bears Roar not only demonstrated his exceptional abilities but also earned him the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, solidifying his status as a true champion in the sport. With an average of 13.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.8 blocks per game in four appearances this season, Marial continues to impress with his contributions on the court as he strives to lead his team to success.
