Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Every week we bring you a list of the top former Cyclones players who continue their career in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced Australian Lauren Mansfield, a 5'7'' guard and 36-year-old, who graduated from Iowa State in 2012 and currently plays professionally in Australia, played a significant role in her team's recent dominant performance. In a match against the tenth-ranked Mavericks, Mansfield helped secure a decisive 101-75 victory for the North Adelaide Rockets in the Australian NBL One North, which is the second division. Despite playing for just 9 minutes, she managed to contribute 7 crucial points to the team's win. The North Adelaide Rockets, currently placed ninth in the Central group, celebrated their first victory after a tough streak of seven consecutive losses, thanks in part to Mansfield's standout performance. In another game against Eastern M., she showcased her skills by scoring 7 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists, playing a pivotal role in leading her team to triumph as the champion. Throughout this year, Mansfield has been maintaining solid averages of 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in the two games she has participated in so far, demonstrating her consistent contribution to the team's success as a finalist.
#2. Canadian Bridget Carleton, a 6'1'' forward who is 29 years old and an alumna of Cyclones from 2019, currently plays professionally in the WNBA. Recently, she showcased her talent by leading the Portland Fire to a resounding victory against the Indiana Fever, with a final score of 100-84 in the Women's National Basketball Association last Saturday. In that game, the champion scored 14 points, dished out 3 assists, and recorded 3 steals in 32 minutes of play. Despite the Portland Fire having a somewhat lackluster 6-4 record this season, it is still early in the season, leaving room for improvement and unexpected outcomes. Carleton's exceptional performance against the Indiana Fever, where she contributed 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists, was crucial in securing the victory, propelling her team towards success as the finalist. Individually, Carleton has been having a standout year, boasting impressive averages of 15.1 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game, and 2.2 steals per game (the second-best in the league) across the nine games she has played thus far. Her remarkable contributions on the court have undoubtedly been instrumental in her team's journey towards potentially becoming the champion.
