Al Zamalek - US Monastir 76-63

Al Zamalek celebrated Basketball Africa League title. They fired past US Monastir to conquer the trophy in Kigali. It looked good early as US Monastir took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Al Zamalek had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and US Monastir was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-76. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ivorian point guard Souleyman Diabate (183-87, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Al Zamalek's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Makram Romdhane (205-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Omar Abada (189-93) added 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for US Monastir. Five Al Zamalek and four US Monastir players scored in double figures.

Petro de Luanda clinched the third position as they cruised past Patriots. The game was mostly controlled by Petro de Luanda. Patriots managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Petro de Luanda looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, college: Hawaii, agency: Duran International) fired 21 points for the winners. American guard Antwan Scott (185-92, college: Colorado St., agency: Duran International) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Joaquim is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Petro de Luanda players scored in double figures. American-Rwandan guard Kenny Gasana (195-84, college: Boise St.) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and Dieudonne Ndizeye (203-96) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
