Mali beat Cameroon to conquer the trophy in South Africa

Mali fired past Cameroon to conquer the title in South Africa. It marked the third win for Malian team in the last four editions of the tournament. Mali surged ahead in the second period to ensure a 27-21 halftime lead. They stayed in charge throughout the third period. Mali held Cameroon to just 15 points in the fourth quarter and raced to the triumph at the end. Youssouf Traore (207-C-2006) notched 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Amadou Traore (204-C-2007) and Sekou Bagayoko (2008) added 12 points each for the winners. Amadou Seini (215-C-2007) stepped up with 11 points and 13 rebounds for Cameroon.

3-4 Place

Morocco - Senegal 71-72
Senegal nipped Morocco in the consolation final and stepped onto the podium. Senegal recorded a 37-33 halftime lead. They stretched the margin at 5-point mark at the final break. Morocco sank 22 points in the fourth period but stopped just short of win at the end. Code Mbengue (210-C-2008) tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds for Senegal. Omar Karem (186-G-2007) answered with 23 points for Morocco.

5-6 Place

Angola - Egypt 69-72
Egypt clinched fifth spot in South Africa as they beat Angola in their final game. Egypt dominated the first half. They erupted with 59 points in the opening quarters to gain a comfortable 21-point halftime lead. Angola held their opponents to just 13 points in the second half but it was too late as Egypt raced to the win. Omar Mowafak (204-PF-2007) delivered 12 points and 15 rebounds for Egypt. Aginaldo Neto (185-G-2006) tossed in 18 points for Angola.

7-8 Place

Rwanda - Nigeria 61-78
Nigeria wrapped up their campaign on a high note. They topped Rwanda to earn the seventh position in the standings. Nigeria registered a 37-27 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 15-point mark at the final break and cruised to the win. Isaac Ezekiel (2007) stepped up with 15 points for Nigeria. Sean Williams (2008) topscored with 29 points for Rwanda.
